EP 01
FASHION
In a world where we say “I have nothing to wear” every day, the fashion industry has already produced enough clothing for as many as six future generations. This episode reveals the true cost of our wardrobes—from the impact of consumerism on the planet to the hidden consequences of fast fashion that we rarely see. On the other side of overproduction and so-called fast fashion stand visionaries and innovators who are transforming the textile industry. Their bold initiatives underscore that sustainable fashion is not a trend, but a necessity for future generations.
EP 02
WATER
Drinking water in Croatia is often taken for granted. While many countries around the world are struggling with droughts, Croatia has the highest amount of renewable water resources per capita in the European Union. However, this wealth does not mean carefreeness. The growing pressure of tourism is exposing serious shortcomings in infrastructure. In this episode, Good Economy explores the management of water resources in Croatia through examples from tourism, as well as industry, the economy, urban planning, and issues of water quality and public health.
EP 03
MOBILITY
Mobility is not just about moving from point A to point B—it shapes the quality of life in our cities. Everyday journeys conceal challenges that affect the rhythm of a community, and one of the greatest among them is the convenience—yet also the social issue—of car ownership. This episode of Good Economy explores how the deeply rooted need for a private car creates urban congestion and hinders more sustainable development. Through expert perspectives and inspiring examples from Croatia, it examines solutions that show change is not only possible, but also beneficial for the city, for society, and for each of us.
EP 04
DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES
Digital technologies such as the internet and video games can be both helpful and harmful. Children are exposed online to numerous threats, from peer violence to the development of addiction. As early as 2018, the World Health Organization classified pathological video game use as an addictive disorder, while more than 70 percent of the world’s population experiences fear of losing access to or being unable to use their smartphone. At the same time, our everyday presence online leaves a significant environmental footprint. In this episode, Good Economy explores the pervasive challenges of digital technologies.
EP 05
THE FUTURE OF FOOD
If you're wondering how much food is wasted per day, or whether healthy food is a privilege of the wealthy, or who farms how most of the agricultural land, you're raising questions about the sustainability of agriculture and the food system, food sovereignty and agroecology. In this episode, we answer these questions and many more, and discover more equitable ecological models of food production and distribution that contribute to the sustainability of food systems.
GOOD ECONOMY 1
PREVIOUS SEASON
“The most beautiful thing is to sit in the shade of a tree you didn’t plant,” is the principle of the economics segment covered in the new documentary series Good Economy.
Six episodes – Introduction to Good Economy, Waste, Tourism, Energy, Food and Construction – feature a series of entrepreneurial stories that question the current economic system and how we can ensure a sustainable, balanced life for ourselves and the generations after us.
