Đuro Gavran holds a master’s degrees in Film and TV Directing (documentary film) from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb and Design from the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the University of Zagreb.
He is the author of about thirty documentaries and two experimental films. The film The Verdict premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival in 2013, after which it was screened at about thirty national and international festivals where it won a number of awards (Sarajevo Film Festival, Zagrebdox, …). The film 4.7 won the Big Stamp in regional competition at ZagrebDOX 2016, and the film News from Laayoun won a special mention from Vaclav Havel jury at the prestigious One World Human Rights Festival in Prague in 2017. He is also the author of the award-winning documentary One of Us. He directed a series of children’s documentaries as part of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), as well as the documentary TV series Good Economy.
The founder of the Pipser production company, he lives and works in Zagreb.
